What is Decoration Light for Christmas Tree

Christmas lights (also known as fairy lights, festive lights or string lights) are lights often used for decoration in celebration of Christmas, often on display throughout the Christmas season including Advent and Christmastide. The custom goes back to when Christmas trees were decorated with candles, which symbolized Christ being the light of the world.

Advantages of Decoration Light for Christmas Tree

Safety
Led christmas lights do not produce as much heat as other types of christmas lights. Therefore, there is less risk of fires. So, not only is there an increased chance that your tree will stay intact, but your house will also be less likely to catch fire as well. Further, led lights are cool to the touch. This feature is especially helpful for families with small children who tend to be curious. If a little one touches and led christmas light he or she will not get burned. When you use led lights you can rest assured your home and family will remain safe all christmas season.

Eco-friendliness
Led lights use less energy than other types of lighting. So, they are better for the environment. Since led lights use fewer natural resources, they keep the number of pollutants down, which is not only beneficial for you and your family, but for the entire world as well.

Cost-efficiency
Everyone is always looking for ways to save money, and using led christmas lights is a great way to do so. Although led lights initially cost nearly twice as much as traditional incandescent christmas lights, you will more than make up that cost in the savings you will see on your energy bill. In an average of just four holiday seasons, you will see the savings in cost.

Durability
If you are sick and tired of replacing your incandescent christmas lights every year, then you will love switching over to led lights. Since they do not have filaments, they last up to 10 times longer than other christmas lights, and their luminescence lasts as many as 4,000 hours of use. That's a lot of christmas seasons!

Versatility
Led christmas lights come in many different shapes and sizes. So, no matter how you want to use them and what look you are trying to achieve, you will be able to find a style that will work. Plus, not only do they come in the same shapes and sizes as incandescent bulbs, but you will also find additional options as well. You can easily find led lights that spread in multiple directions like a spectrum. This option is great for those who are looking for lights that will sparkle and shine brightly. Another variety of led lights is designed to illuminate a wider area than most christmas lights do. Another great feature of led lights is that they also come in novelty varieties as well. For example, you can find lights that are formed in holiday and seasonal shapes such as snowflakes, candy canes, santas, and reindeer. You can easily mix and match a variety of led lights to create an original and festive holiday display.

Ease in storage
Anyone who has ever had to put away strings of incandescent christmas lights knows the extreme care that must be used to get it done right. Incandescent lights are made of glass, so they are quite fragile and break easily. The strands of lights need to be wrapped carefully and covered in a protective layer of tissue paper, bubble wrap, or something similar to keep them protected while they are in storage. Often, despite careful handling, the bulbs can break, rendering the entire strand useless. On the other hand, led lights are made of plastic, so they can simply be wrapped up and stored anywhere. Since they are virtually unbreakable, you will save lots of money from year to year since you will not have to replace broken strands.

Shape of String Christmas Lights

We offer string lights in a variety of different shapes, choose from:

Straight line string christmas lights
The original and most popular choice. Easy to use, simply drape or attach them where you want some added seasonal sparkle. Look out for battery-operated timer lights that can be programmed to come on at the same time every day. Set up once, these automated lights are a great hassle-free option.

We offer standard straight line string lights with visible led bulbs, as well as string lights with shades covering the bulb. Add some extra fun to christmas this year by opting for shaped string lights, such as ball-shaped or starburst lights.

Net christmas lights
Net lights feature a grid of led bulbs, most usually in a square or rectangular shape. They're often used outdoors for maximum impact and they look especially effective draped over fences, the roofs of porches or inside window frames. They also look great draped over hedges and trees.

Curtain christmas lights
Replicating the look of window curtains, curtain lights are designed with lines of string lights hanging loosely from a horizontal cable. They look great in windows or in entrance ways.

Icicle christmas lights
Echoing the frosty chill of winter icicles, these lights use the straight line framework but with hanging lights of different lengths. Icicle lights look fantastic hung from eaves and windows – though remember to stay safe if attempting to hang in such spots. Alternatively, use indoors in windows, like curtain lights.

Raw materials
Two primary sets of materials go into making string christmas lights. The strings contain 22-gauge copper wire coated in green or white rubber or polyvinyl chloride (pvc) with injection-molded plastic plugs at each end of the strands. Christmas tree lightbulbs require a separate set of materials, including blown glass, rubber bases, metal contact wires and filaments.
Mold release agents play a vital role in manufacturing many of these materials - namely, all components made of plastic or rubber. These chemicals provide a barrier between substrates and their molding surfaces, preventing them from bonding while being shaped. Mold release agents ensure that all of the string's plastic and rubber bases, cords and tips are successfully shaped without fusing to their molds.

Wire strings
The first step in manufacturing christmas lights is creating the wire strings. This process involves:
Wire coating: The manufacturer coats the copper wire in pvc or rubber to protect it from harsh temperatures and ultraviolet (uv) rays, equipping the string christmas lights for use in any climate.
First wire construction: This wire is cut to the complete length of the light strand before a molded load fitting or plug is fashioned to one end of the wire and an end connector to the other.
Second wire construction: The second length of wire is assembled in shorter, 6-inch segments with lamp holders linking each pair. Workers manually funnel the wires through a machine, which trims the plastic and contact-welds a flange or copper metal contact to the wire end.
Lamp holder fitting: Next, the workers fit the end of the wire with the metal flange to the lamp holder by pushing it into place until the flange snaps in. They then attach another wire to the other side of the lamp holder with the stripped end driven into it. The manufacturer repeats this process, connecting numerous wires.
Wire pairing: Once all wire segments are linked, they are paired with a continuous wire and fitted to a wall plug and end connectors. A machine then twists the two strings together.

Lightbulbs
Lightbulbs for christmas tree lights are manufactured independently following a separate process:
Bulb shaping: Glass units vibrate into slots on a rounded table with numerous operating stations positioned around it. As the table rotates, the glass moves through the stations and is heated and blown into a bulb shape.
Filament placement: Manufacturers place filaments and other components within the bulbs, enabling them to produce light.
Glass sealing: The glass is pinched down, and a vacuum removes the oxygen from the hot bulbs before the ends are sealed. Then, two wires are pressed into the glass.
Bulb painting: To color the bulbs, magnets pull them up by their wires and move them through a tunnel where they are painted and left to dry.
Assembly: The lightbulbs move through an assembly line where workers fit them with injection-molded plastic bases. The workers attach the bulbs' wires to the plastic bases, bending them at the sides so that they touch the metal flanges and lamp holders.

What Colour Christmas Lights Should You Choose

Red christmas lights
Red is one of the most popular colours to use as part of your christmas decorations, and we see it a lot during yuletide. You could see the colour by itself or combined with green, white, silver and gold for a complete colour palette.
Red can be used to represent holly berries and apples that appear during the winter season. The vibrant colour is additionally seen on the poinsettia plant and the breasts of robins during this time.

Blue christmas lights
For a more relaxed and snowy ambience, add our blue christmas tree lights to your seasonal display. Our multifunction blue christmas tree lights are available with 300 or 600 leds. You can enhance your frosty decorative look by mixing these lights with our white christmas tree lights.
Blue is often associated with coldness and winter, and even though ice is transparent, we typically associate blue with it. When paired with white christmas lights, you can create a stunning winter wonderland at home.

White and warm white christmas lights
If you prefer a more contemporary approach to lighting, our white christmas tree lights might be perfect for you. You can keep things simple and bright with white leds on your tree or combine them with our multicolour christmas lights selection for an even more dynamic display.
Our white christmas tree lights are available as bright white christmas lights and warm white christmas lights in strings of 300, 480, 600 and 1,000 leds. We also offer white cluster christmas lights and white led icicle christmas lights to decorate your home if you want something different.

Amber and gold christmas lights
Another way to use colour to bring a subtle glow to your display is by using amber christmas tree lights. These multifunction lights have 360 led lights on each string and can be used both indoors and outdoors.
Golden lights, such as yellows and ambers, can be used to represent wealth and royalty. When the three wise men visited baby jesus, one of the gifts they brought him was gold. In general, yellows, ambers and golds are also symbolic of the sun, which gives life.

Multicolour christmas lights
Multicolour christmas tree lights are the best fit! Sit back and watch a vibrant colour display every evening and brighten up your living room with different light settings. These lights come with led strings of between 360 and 2000 lights, making them perfect for several different heights of christmas trees.
We also stock pre-lit christmas trees adorned with multicolour lights. Choose from a range of ultra-realistic pine and fir trees to find the perfect one for your festive display. What's more, these pre-lit trees have colour-changing lights, so you can switch between snowy whites and bold colours.

Christmas Light Safety Tips for a Safe and Merry Holiday

Make sure to inspect your lights
Be on the lookout for any frayed wires, cracked sockets, or broken cords before you install them. Discard any defective lights and replace them with new ones. Using damaged lights can cause a short circuit, leading to an electrical fire.

Follow local restrictions
Some areas have laws regulating the types of lights you can use and how long they can be left on for. Make sure to check with your city or county to see if there are any specific regulations in place that you need to follow when installing your

Never overload electrical outlets
When plugging in multiple sets of lights, be sure to use a power strip or surge protector to protect your outlets from being overloaded. Never plug more than three strands of lights together and only use one power strip per outlet.

Keep combustible items away
If you're still using non-led bulbs, christmas lights can get hot enough to ignite nearby objects, so make sure that anything flammable like paper decorations, curtains, or fabric is kept away from the lights.

Have a fire extinguisher on hand
In case of an emergency, it's important to have a fire extinguisher nearby when you're dealing with christmas lights in order to be able to put out any flames that may arise safely. Make sure your family knows how to use one, just in case.

Use the right kinds of lights
While they may not look very different, it's very important to make sure you use indoor lights indoors and vice versa. Indoor lights are designed to be completely safe when used indoors, so they won't pose a fire hazard if you string them up in the family tree. They also use less energy than outdoor lights, making them more cost-efficient.
Outdoor lights, on the other hand, have been specifically tested to stand up against cold and wet weather. Not only will they be able to withstand harsh climates, but their strong insulation will also help to reduce any risk of fire. Furthermore, due to their heavy-duty construction and materials, outdoor lights have a longer life span than indoor ones and are more likely to last for several years rather than needing frequent replacement.

Protect outdoor cords
It is incredibly important to protect outdoor cords when hanging christmas lights, as a damaged extension cord can create extremely hazardous conditions. Not only could this lead to electrocution or electric shock, but it could also cause a fire hazard or carbon monoxide poisoning. If the power cord is wet or damp, this creates a high risk of electrical shock should someone come into contact with it. By investing in an appropriate cord protector, you can ensure that your extension cords stay safe and dry at all times. Furthermore, you should also take care to plan your light display so that connections are suspended off the ground instead of laying directly on it. This will also prevent any potential damage from water or weather damage.

Don't nail or staple your lights
When you're hanging up your lights, make sure to avoid nailing or stapling them in place. Not only can this damage the wiring or insulation and create a fire hazard, but it will also leave puncture marks in walls and roofs that may be difficult to repair. Additionally, using nails and staples may put additional strain on the wires and cause them to break or come loose, leading to an even greater risk of electrocution or fire. Instead, you can use plastic clips, hooks, or hangers specifically designed for christmas lights to ensure that they stay securely in place without damaging the wiring or insulation.

FAQ

Q: How do you decorate Christmas lights on a tree?

A: String lights by starting the string at the bottom of the tree and pulling it up to the top, then back down like a mountain. Continue to zigzag up and down the tree. Once you've wrapped the tree, tuck the strands farther in on the branches to make room for ornaments.

Q: What are the two types of Christmas tree lights?

A: If you're overwhelmed by the various lighting options, remember that there are two types of Christmas tree lights - incandescent and LED Christmas lights.

Q: What are Christmas tree lights called?

A: Fairy lights seems like a common term. Personally, I'd just call them LEDs or mini LEDs.

Q: How to choose Christmas tree lights?

A: Select a bulb style based on the size of your tree – Smaller Tree = Smaller Bulb Style – Larger Tree = Larger Bulb Style. The 5MM wide angle LED lights, or G12 raspberry LED lights, will produce the most evenly distributed light, no matter which way the bulbs end up pointing.

Q: What is the difference between string lights and fairy lights?

A: Fairy lights are essentially miniature string lights. These are generally meant to be used as indoor decor, with the most common exception being Christmas lights. The bulbs are small, making them more of a decorative element than a light fixture.

Q: How many lights to put on a Christmas tree?

A: How Many Lights for Christmas Trees? Plan for a minimum of 100 lights per vertical foot when wrapping indoor Christmas trees & consider purchasing a few extra light strings to ensure you have complete coverage. Any light strings not used can serve as backups in the future should you need an extra string or two.

Q: What is the best type of Christmas light?

A: LED Christmas lights last longer than traditional lights and are more energy-efficient. They stay cool to the touch and are very bright lights. Incandescent lights are usually budget-friendly. They are very bright, show only one color per bulb and can heat up with extended use.

Q: What colour lights look best on a Christmas tree?

A: Classic golden hues remain the most popular color for their comforting glow, but traditional holiday hues red and green are also the favored choice for a livelier display. Blue and icy white lights are also a trendy combination, especially when paired with silver ornaments.

Q: Should I get warm or cool Christmas tree lights?

A: Cool lights tend to have more of a blue shade, in other words, a cooler tinge. These are great for snowy scenes and complement silvery Christmas decorations. Warm lights are more of a yellowy colour with a golden tinge and are great for golden or red Christmas decorations and scenes.

Q: What is the rule of thumb for Christmas tree lights?

A: The rule of thumb is 100 lights per vertical foot, so a 6ft tree would require 600 lights. This will give you a traditional gentle sparkling tree, which is excellent for balsam trees, small trees, and sparsely decorated trees.
